One of the most iconic sports cars ever made, a 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider, is set to go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Monterey auction next month.
The classic Ferrari is expected to capture the attention of an eclectic and elite crowd of prospective buyers looking to claim their slice of Ferrari history.
Just one of 50 spiders made, this stunning 1958 deep navy blue example, rolled out of the factory in 1958 before being shipped to New York and then making its way across the United States to Fawcett Motors in Texas where it found its original owner.
Having undergone a comprehensive restoration in 1992, engine rebuild in 1998 and a recent respray to its current dark blue form, the California Spider is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.
RM Sotheby’s have remained tight-lipped about how much they are expecting the Ferrari to fetch at this stage. The recent sale of a 1959 250 GT LWB through Goodling and Company for $10.3million AUD should serve as a rough guide for interested parties.
