Mercedes-Benz Australia have confirmed pricing for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG C43, and the news is good. You can get 90% of the performance of a Mercedes-Benz AMG C63s (the ‘S’ is the only variant of the C63 offered in Australia) for 65% percent of the price.
Mercedes-Benz Australia today announced that pricing for the entry-level AMG C-Class will start at $101,900 (plus on-road costs) for the sedan, $104,400 (plus on-road costs) for the family friendly wagon variant and $105,615 (plus on-roads) for the coupe version.
The 2017 Mercedes AMG C43 comes standard with a handsome list of features including; 19inch bespoke AMG alloy wheels, AMG sport suspension, bi-modal sports exhaust, LED headlights, panoramic sliding glass roof, Burmester sound system, satellite navigation with online capability, head up display (HUD) and heated front seats.
Under the bonnet, the AMG C43 packs a 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 dispensing a handy 270kW of power and 520Nm of torque. Thanks largely to Mercedes-Benz 4Matic all-wheel drive, the C43 will sprint to 100km/h in 4.7sec. For reference, its big brother, the Mercedes-Benz AMG C63s features a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 375kW/700Nm and accelerates to 100km/h in 3.9sec.
Interestingly, unlike Audi with their mildly hot ‘S’ division and the ‘pretty-hot but not all-the-way-hot’ BMW M Sport cars, Mercedes has elected to adorn the C43 with the fabled “AMG” badge- a decision that is sure to ruffle some feathers with those who invested in more expensive AMG models.
With pricing for the Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 now confirmed, we now have a better idea of where the entry level C-Class AMG will be targeted. The C43 will significantly undercut the 2017 Audi S5 which is expected to be priced at $135,000 when it goes on sale in Australia early next year. Remarkably, The C43 is likely to face its stiffest competition from the underwhelming and slightly confusing BMW 340i which packs 240kW/450Nm and is priced at $89,990 (plus on road costs).
Mercedes-Benz Australia have already opened order books for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 with first deliveries set to arrive in Australia later this year in October.
