Subaru BRZ STI Sport, Is This It?

Subaru BRZ STI Sport
Finally, Subaru have done it, the Subaru BRZ STI Sport is the budget sports car that we have been waiting for.

The perfect two-seater to cruise around town and tear up the back roads. Gone are the days of the underpowered NA four-cylinder because Subaru have finally adorned it with the Halo ‘STI’ badge, which can only mean one thing- more power! Right?

Afraid not. Subaru are conceivably doing everything they can to avoid giving the masses what they want- a forced-induction Subaru BRZ. Since the inception of the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 back in 2012, the affectionately nicknamed “Toybaru” twins have been winning praise from cornering and weight distribution aficionado’s.

However, those of us who value the traffic light grand prix and believe the Subaru BRZ’s 205Nm of torque would be more at home in a ride on lawn mower or kitchen appliance have been anxiously awaiting the addition of a forced induction variant. Alas, it doesn’t look to be coming any time soon- if ever.

The Subaru BRZ STI will have the same 147kw/205Nm 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine as the regular Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ twins. In fact, the only real difference is a slightly different suspension setup, improved steering responsiveness and some special edition 18inch wheels.

Priced he STI Sport Cool Grey Khaki Edition will be limited to 100 units and sold through a lottery system exclusively to the Japanese market.

Hopefully the respective winners can find an extra chunk of cash for an aftermarket Turbo or Supercharger Kit.
