The BMW 2002 Hommage, revealed in May of this year, is the eight BMW Hommage concept car from the German Manufacturer. Set to hit Pebble Beach in California as part of the Concours d’Elegance, the BMW 2002 Hommage Concept will celebrate BMW’s turbocharged legacy.
When it debuted in 1973, the BMW 2002 Turbo challenged conceptions and made larger displacement V8’s appear lethargic and overweight by comparison.
Powered by a 2.0-litre fuel-injected turbocharged four-cylinder motor, the original 2002 Turbo produced an impressive 127kW of power and 240Nm of torque, the latter made even more impressive given it was accessible from 4000rpm.
Opting for a less subtle finish than the baby blue concept that was revealed earlier this year, the BMW 2002 Hommage Concept set to appear at Pebble Beach will be finished in orange and black with ‘turbomeister’ stickered on the front, side and back of the car. “Turbomeister” pays tribute to the BMW 2002 Turbo racing cars of the 1970’s that were sponsored by Jagermeister.
Based on the BMW M2, the BMW 2002 Hommage Concept is powered by the same twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that produces 272kW of power and 465Nm of torque and accelerates to 100km/h in 4.3sec.
