Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘The Grand Tour’ Preview

The first images from Jeremy Clarkson’s ‘The Grand Tour’ shooting in Johannesburg, South Africa, have surfaced. The new motoring program features the popular ex. Top Gear trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May. Embracing the digital revolution, the Grand Tour will be available exclusively through Amazon Prime in a deal which reportedly cost the Netflix rivalling streaming service more than $7.9million AUD per episode.

We already knew that the show would be filmed in a tent, however, first images suggest that the word ’tent’ may have been underselling the impressive space. The ‘Grand Tour Tent’ will tour the world with the United Kingdom, United States, and Germany all expected to be future destinations in the first season.

Amazon continues to be secretive about what the new show has in store for viewers, confirming only that there will be 12 episodes in the first season. The three-year deal means that there will be at least 36 episodes of the Grand Tour.

After a tumultuous first season of the revamped Top Gear that saw viewer ratings decline by more than 50% between the season premiere and the finale and lead presenter Chris Evans resign, The Grand Tour will be looking to capture existing Top Gear fans as well as a new, younger digital-savvy audience.
