Mercedes Benz AMG GT-R Teaser Video

With just over a week until the hotly anticipated Mercedes Benz AMG GT-R debuts at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, Mercedes have released a tantalising preview of the fastest, meanest and most desirable AMG car to ever wear a numberplate.

The frustratingly short 22 second video shows glimpses of a meaner, more pumped up version of the already hot AMG GT. Finished in a bold matte green and showing off a permanent rear wing, the video gives little away about the newest model in the AMG family.

The video gives no hints about what kind of wheels and body kit the GT-R will wear but does allude to a significantly more aggressive looking shape. Flared wheel arches to accommodate a broader rear end, wide tyres and a lower ride are expected to give the GT-R a track ready feel.

Significant chassis and handling tweaks are expected to tone down the AMG GT’s oversteering tendencies to make it a more focused track car.

Engine specifications for the incoming GT-R are yet to be confirmed, however, in addition to a significant weight loss, expect a slight power increase on the 375kW/650Nm derived from the 4.0L twin turbo V8 in the current range topping AMG GTS.

Mercedes Australia are yet to confirm pricing. Given the AMG GTS wears a price tag of nearly $300k, we don’t expect buyers will get much change from $400,000.
