Ditching the four-wheel drive system saves 140kg and makes the GT2 one of the most involving 911’s ever made. Where the 911 Turbo forgives drivers for their mistakes by engaging all four wheels, the GT2 doesn’t afford the same clemency.

Affectionately known as The Widow Maker, the 997 911 GT2 is the fastest, scariest and one of the most desirable 911’s on public roads. Based on the 911 Turbo and built by the same team responsible for Porsche’s track ready 911’s such as the GT3RS and Cup Model’s, the GT2 was made with driver involvement at the forefront.

Despite the omission of all wheel drive, the 911 GT2 is still capable of reaching 100km/h in 3.7 seconds- just two tenths slower than the all-wheel drive 911 997 Turbo. The GT2, however, isn’t about straight line performance- it is a track day weapon. The GT2 was only available in manual transmission- the driver centric option for maximal involvement.
