When it was launched in 2008, the RS6 C6 was the most powerful car that Audi had ever made. Now, almost a decade since it redefined the fast saloon market, the 5.0L Twin-Turbo V10 in the Audi RS6 has only been eclipsed by the recently launched second-generation Audi R8 V10 Plus (449kW) for outright power.
The recipe for the Audi RS6 is simple, take the engine out of a Lamborghini Gallardo, add a couple of turbochargers and wedge it under the bonnet of a two tonne family car- what more could you want? The 5.0L Twin-Turbo V10 in the RS6 C6 produces 426kW of power and 650Nm of torque, enough to catapult the enormous sedan to 100km/h in 4.5sec.
When it was first launched, the RS6 C6 was criticised for a lack of driver involvement and the notorious Audi understeer. Whilst this may be true on the racetrack, you’re unlikely to notice such flaws in the daily commute around town. While it boasts supercar power, the RS6 isn’t a track weapon, rather a car that can be used as a sedate daily commuter and a raucous weekend toy.
