The eagerly anticipated Lamborghini Centenario Roadster has made its debut at Monterey Car Week. The good news? It is every bit the jaw-dropping hypercar that you would expect from Lamborghini. The bad news? It is already sold out and you will probably never see one in the flesh.
Like the Lamborghini Centenario Coupe, the Roadster is based based heavily on the Lamborghini Aventador. Featuring a reworked version of Lamborghini’s brutal 6.5-litre V12, the Centenario Roadster produces 566kW of power and 690Nm of torque, enough to make it the most powerful Lamborghini ever made. Shift points have been altered too, the Centenario’s V12 will now scream all the way to 8600rpm.
Despite the extensive use of carbon-fibre body panels and a carbon-fibre monocoque, the Centenario still suffers a 50kg weight deficit over its hard top brother. Thankfully though, performance hasn’t been affected too much, with the Centenario Roadster capable of screaming to 100km/h in 2.9sec (0.1sec slower than the coupe) and accelerating beyond 350km/h.
Unlike a Ferrari Speciale or a track ready Aston Martin Vantage, the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster has all the creature comforts of a grand tourer. Loaded with useable and practical features, the Centenario features an Apple CarPlay ready 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, leather seats and a refined and comfortable interior.
Despite an asking price of more than 2million euros ($3million AUD), all 20 examples of the Lamborghini Centenario roadsters have been accounted for.
If the asking price was of concern, don’t fret, Lamborghini are also making 20 Centenario coupes with an asking price of just 1.75million euros ($2.7million AUD). Sadly, like the Centenario roadster, all 20 examples of the Centenario coupe are already spoken for.
