Ford GT66 Heritage Edition Unveiled

Ford has appeased its many supercar fans by offering a new GT supercar that will pay homage to the legendary 1966 racer that upset Ferrari to take a 1-2-3 clean sweep of Le Mans.

Aptly named the GT66 Heritage Edition, the homage car will be based on the upcoming Ford GT. Sadly, for Australian buyers, this is another car that Ford won’t be making available in Australia after Ford made the unpopular decision to offer the GT exclusively in left hand drive markets.

ford 1`Ford are yet to confirm power output from the all new 3.5L twin-turbo V6, however, they have confirmed that the engine in this special edition GT will remain unchanged from the standard car. Power is expected to be somewhere between 450kW-500kW with a hefty lump of torque in the vicinity of 700Nm.

ford 2The car comes anointed with in a bespoke black with silver stripe colour combination, plastered with the historic number 2- the same number as the car that was driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon when they took out the 1966 Le Mans.

ford 3An unconfirmed price tag expected to exceed $400,000USD and no confirmation on delivery date hasn’t deterred more than 10,000 die hard Ford fans putting forward an expression of interest for the new GT. Initial deliveries of the new GT are expected to commence at the end of 2016.
