German tuning house Posaidon have taken the already brisk Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and created a road-going monster.
Taking full advantage of the AMG E63’s optional all-wheel-drive system, Posaidon have increased the E63’s standard output of 430kW/800Nm, good for a 0-100km/h time of 4.3sec, to a mind-bending 750kW/1400Nm.
Almost every aspect of Mercedes 5.5L bi-turbo V8 engine has been reworked, strengthened and improved. The German tuning house starts by removing the two standard turbochargers and replacing them with larger, higher-flowing replacements and pairing them with more efficient intercoolers to ensure that they can run at optimum capacity. A redesigned ram intake, less-restrictive turboback exhaust and strengthened internals are all supported by a custom ECU tune to get the most out of the new hardware.
In order to get all of its new found power onto the road, the German tuner upgraded the seven-speed automatic gearbox and fit precisely calibrated differentials to the front and rear axles of the car.
The result is substantial to say the least. The all-wheel-drive Posaidon E63 will sprint to 100km/h in a supercar crushing 2.8sec and keep going to an electronically limited top speed 350km/h.
Posaidon’s mission wasn’t simply to extract enormous power figures from the E63- although they have successfully accomplished that- they also worked to reduce the cars kerb weight of 1940kg whilst also improving the cars handing and braking characteristics.
The cost for all of these modifications? Well, start with the $270,000 that you’ll need for the donor car and then double it.
