2017 BMW 1 Series Sedan Revealed

After months of speculation and rumours, BMW have released the first images of the hotly-anticipated 2017 BMW 1 Series sedan. The German manufacturers micro sedan is set to rival the Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3 in the increasingly popular mini-sedan market.

BMW are yet to confirm engine options, pricing and launch date for the new 1 Series sedan. Size, weight and driving configuration options are also yet to be confirmed, however, looking to its German rivals from Mercedes-Benz and Audi, we can anticipate that the initial ‘mass market’ 1 Series sedan will be offered in a cost-cutting front-wheel-drive configuration.

So, you’re sold on the 1 Series sedan now? The compact styling, four-door practicality and driving dynamics that it is set to inherit from the 1 Series hatch are reason enough to clear out your garage and make room. Well, unless you live in China, too bad. The newest addition to the BMW line up will be offered exclusively to the sedan-crazed Chinese market.

At this stage, there is no word as to whether or not the 1 Series will be offered in western markets. It is likely that BMW will use the 1 Series sedan’s launch in China to gauge interest from other markets and make a decision down the line.
