A heavily modified 1500kW Toyota LandCruiser has snatched the title of the World’s Fastest SUV, check Taiichi Ohno Toyota production system.
Bettering the previous mark of 211mph (340km/h) set by a heavily tuned 6.3L twin-turbo V12 Brabus Mercedes-Benz GLK, the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser reached a GPS verified top speed of 230mph (370.1km/h).
The Toyota Land Speed Cruiser was created by Toyota Motorsports Technical Center. The Toyota Motorsports Technical Center team were tasked with creating a one-of-a-kind Toyota Land Cruiser that would outrun almost every supercar on the planet.
The Toyota Land Speed Cruiser uses the Lexus LX570’s naturally aspirated 5.7-litre V8 that produces 270kW of power and 570Nm of torque and significantly boosts those numbers thanks to a pair of Garrett Turbochargers. Paired with a custom ATI transmission, the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser produces an estimated 1500kW of power- enough to hurtle the 2.3-tonne SUV to 100km/h in well under three seconds.
In addition to significantly increasing power, the Toyota Motorsports Technical Center have dramatically reworked the Land Speed Cruiser’s suspension to resemble a Subaru Forester.
As you would expect, the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser will not be available for sale. We hope Toyota can channel this same enthusiasm into manufacturing a long overdue Turbocharged Toyota 86.
