2019 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Shooting for 300kW

There is no questioning the hot hatch credentials of the 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG A45. In 2016, in the wake of the Audi RS3, Mercedes turned up the heat on the already insane AMG A45 to snatch the crown of the most powerful hatchback in the world.

With 280kW of power and 475Nm of torque being dispensed from the 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the 2016 Mercedes Benz AMG A45 will sprint to 100km/h in a slightly absurd 4.2sec. To put that figure into perspective, a 2005 Ferrari F430 which boasted a $389,000 sticker price in 2005 will complete the 0-100km/h sprint only two-tenths quicker.

The next generation Mercedes-Benz AMG A45 set to launch in 2019 is preparing to take things to the next level. A report by Autocar UK has suggested that the next generation will eclipse the 400hp barrier (298kW) and feature a nine-speed dual clutch transmission that will help it accelerate to 100km/h in less than four seconds.

Test mules for the next-generation A-Class have recently been spotted testing in Germany ahead of a global launch in early 2018.
